The museum is placed on the boundaries of the ancient citadel of Amman, incorporating one of the remaining walls and gates of the citadel within the interior display space of the museum. The building also acts as a visual podium on which the ancient remains rest on, smoothing the transition between the monumental acropolis and the small scaled residential area on its slopes.
